Musings since the weather won't behave

My walks have taken on a new meaning since I became a REALTOR. Now I have the purpose of studying the market. When I walk I look for sale signs and I pay close attention to significant details of the houses. I am now aware of all kinds if things beyond the realm of architectural history. It's always interesting to see the changes people choose to do to their houses when they put them on the market.
I got the rare opportunity this winter of being able to walk downtown yesterday. Saw a lot of activity! Bank owned properties sold over the winter are already being worked on, a recent forclosure will quickly be on the market, and private homeowners are already starting projects. The past month has been a very busy one for the real estate market!
I have some gardening plans in the back of my mind, got to get motivated. I just created two new spring wreaths for my doors. No more evergreens!

Changing gears

I'm embarking on a new writing endeavor. I am a hiker. I've been hiking my whole life. That being said, a little about the environment of my youth. I grew up hiking the woods around my house and at the local state forestry. I also led hikes at Girl Scout camp throughout high school. I have hiked German hills and the Swiss Alps, and walked all over three European cities.

I went to grad school in a small city where I came to better appreciate walking in an urban environment. Now I live in an urban area made up of three cities and a large town. I walk to as many places as I can. I will be blogging about my adventures in urban hiking. Hopefully I can inspire more people to get out and explore where they live no matter what the size of the community.

Frustrations

Anyone out there having trouble deciding on their next project for their house? I'm an expert and occasionally I help people navigate house repairs as my job. But, when it comes to my own house... We have about 6 or 7 things that need to be finished that are all in the same price range, but we can't seem to just pick one and get it finished! You'd think that with my easy work schedule I could get some things done around here.

Latest

So I've almost finished my real estate pre-licensing class. I'm ready to get things going! Work on the house has been more in the maintenance direction. New range vent installed, gardening, curtains/ rods. We're itching to paint another room and we have a new old door to install.
We've discovered the Lux Radio Theater on YouTube. Great movies from the 40s and 50s, often with the original actors, played out for the radio. Early episodes were produced by Cecil B. DeMille. They are fun to listen to when we are hanging out on the porch. YouTube also has audio books.

Welcome!

Testing, testing, is this thing on? My next big thing is to get my real estate license! Using my preservation training to help good people and good houses come together just makes sense! Latest projects on the homefront include building and installing a new wooden attic vent and tightening up one of our dining chairs.
